What are domains?

Domain names are the bit of text that a potential visitor to your site will type into their browser to access your site. When you typed in www.exohost.co.uk to get to this site, exohost.co.uk was the domain name. We offer top level domains here; .com and .co.uk. We also offer sub domains.

What are sub domains and why do we offer them?

A sub domain is very similar to a top level domain. However, instead of having "yourdomain.com" or ".co.uk", you will have "yourdomain.exohost.co.uk". These do not have the same price tag as normal top level domains, and can be purchased from us. We offer them for the casual web site owner who is not likely to want to spend the fee to register top level domains.

How much do you charge and why?

Our prices are detailed in the table below.

These prices are very competitive. The price of the .com's and .co.uk's comes from the amount we must pay for your domains to be registered. The price of the sub domains is lower because it only has to cover set up fees and resource usage.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Once you have selected your hosting plan, you can either buy a domain from us (whether top level or sub domain) or use your own domain which you have registered elsewhere. Note, if doing this, you will need to update your name servers.

Are there any restrictions?

Yes. These restrictions are imposed by a number of regulating authorities including ICANN. Your domain may not contain abusive content or insult or cause offense to companies, organisations or individuals within it's name. Other restrictions may apply, and it is your responsibility to make our self aware of them. All purchases of domains through us made in agreement to our terms and conditions.

Future Plans

In the future, we intend to add more extensions for both top level domains (TLD's) and sub domains. This would allow users to register .org's, .net's, .info's and a variety of sub domains.
